The Bible Translator is the leading academic journal dedicated to the theory and practice of Bible translation. It has been published continuously since 1950, and exists firstly to serve those directly involved in Bible translation, aiming to encourage sharing of the results of their research and records of their practice. It exists also to provide a forum for a wider community of scholars and students interested in a range of disciplines which influence the translation of the Bible, and encourages engagement between scholars and translators.

The Bible Translator welcomes contributions from established and emerging scholars, and from translation practitioners, in areas including biblical textual criticism, exegesis and interpretation; the history, theory and theology of translation; and the broader field of translation studies. The Bible Translator is the journal of the United Bible Societies and is a fully refereed publication with a distinguished editorial Board. Each of the three issues published annually includes space both for major theoretical contributions and for shorter practical papers, as well as reviews of relevant publications.

The aim of The Bible Translator is to be the vehicle of choice for publication on all topics related to Bible translation, and to uphold the highest scholarly standards while providing opportunity for those involved in Bible translation projects to share their practical experience.
